Antique Ceramic 18Sourced from the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine, this collection of antique ceramics are over 80 100 years old. Used traditionally for cooking over a fire, in a wood burning burn, or as water jugs they are relics of an old world that can still be found in remote villages along hilltops and deep within forests. Each ceramic has developed beautiful patina and wear from years of use. One of one, then gone.
The jug has developed a rich patina and wear over time
marking their passage into elder or title-holding status
but also represent societal ranks
Makenge baskets are hand-woven from boiled roots of the Makenge bush and naturally coloured with plant dyes
Lozi containers are hand-carved from indigenous woods by the Lozi people of Zambia
These spears are hand-sculpted by the Pokot people of Kenya and part of our special collection which took 8 years to curate
