Michael Collins Commemoration JerseyOn 16 October 1890, Michael Collins was born in Woodfield (Doire Luain) in County Cork. In 1906, he moved to London where he worked as a clerk for the Post Office Savings Bank but would eventually become a senior clerk for an American stockbroking firm. While in London, Collins was involved with the GAA and the Gaelic League, which would lead him to meet Sam Maguire, who swore him into the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB). In late 1915, Collins
